Procedures for The Installation of RV Charge Controllers

by Caitlin

The first major rule for installing a charge controller for rv is to always fix the solar section as the final duty. By doing so, a passage way for current flow is provided.

If the solar section is not taken care of as the final duty, current flowing through would have nowhere to go.

Overall procedures for the installation process

It is noteworthy to remember that the controller is to be installed in a format that produces enough space for breeze passage. The installation of the controller in a favorable position would lead to proper temperature control.

Proper alignment of the controller would also enhance the current saving power. Alongside that, it provides proper positioning for battery durability.

The charger controller is not to be installed on the upward battery side. This is a perfect position because it keeps the system free from up-gas interference.

Be certain to fix the positive wire near the battery. This is to avoid highly inflammable situations.

If outward grounds have been provided by the charger manufacturer, it should be aligned in a separate format from the system. This is necessary because the charge controller mode of operation is different from that of other systems.

Finally, asides the above listed procedures, other laid down guidelines are also in mentioned in the systems manual. It is highly advised, that all operators go through the manual.

LOAD Output in a charge controller

A good number of charge controllers have a three-way terminal set.

Among the three terminals, the initial alignment goes to the battery. The other alignment makes its way to the panel.

The third terminal is usually known as the LOAD. This terminal is designed to be a form of protection for the charge controller battery.

The above listed are effective ways to ensure proper installation of charge controllers.

Duties of the LOAD output in a charge controller

Firstly, the LOAD output is provided to power all minor electronics available in the charge controller. The positive section of the LOAD output devices makes its way to the fuse box. The fuse box is further connected to provide light.

The negative section is designed to connect the bar and bring back available wires of all the system sections.

Secondly, when the available batteries are brought down below a certain current level. The charge control will then break out current, to protect the battery and ensure durability.

Thirdly, a few sophisticated charge controllers, are responsible for adjusting current to avoid over charging. This process also enhances battery durability.

Demerits of the LOAD output

The LOAD output is liable to function properly under mini powered items.

Most times, inverters cannot be powered through them, as trying to do so will decrease its life-span.

Secondly, the idea of cutting down on available and needed appliances make individuals uncomfortable.

Most devices capable of killing the charge controller quickly are extremely essential devices. These devices include refrigerators, irons and water heaters.

It’s important to know the installation processes. With these tips at the back of your fingers, you should have a blast with the installation process.
