Keeping your vape pen clean is very important especially when you are CBD vaping. The point of vaping CBD is to get the medicinal benefits of CBD and to help you deal with symptoms like anxiety and chronic pain. If you do not clean your vape pen regularly, you may be vaping dirt along with your CBD oil which defeats its medicinal benefits. So, it is important that you know how to clean your vape pen properly. Here are the steps that you should keep in mind.
Step 1: Warm up
You might think that disassembling your pen is the first step to cleaning it. That is wrong. You must first activate your vape pen so that it warms up. This will make any remaining residue from the wax or oil you are using easier to wipe away.
Step 2: Disassemble
Once the vape pen is warm, disassemble your vape pen by separate the heating chamber, mouthpiece, and battery.
Step 3: Clean the heating chamber
Use the dab tool from your vape kit to clean out the heating chamber or tank. If your vape kit does not come with one, you can use a cotton bud or Q-tip dipped in isopropyl rubbing alcohol. When you wipe away the residue, do so in consistent strokes, moving in the same direction. It helps to move in the same direction so that you do not smear the residue around the heating chamber. Continue this until there is no visible residue in the heating chamber.
Step 4: Clean the heating wick/coil
Clean the heating wick or coil and the area surrounding it using the same process described above. If you use isopropyl rubbing alcohol to clean this area, make sure you use as little as possible so that the liquid will not seep in the circuitry. Take note that the heating wick/coil is very delicate do so not put too much pressure on it and do not scrape it while cleaning. Damaging the heating wick/coil may cause your vape pen to no longer function. Replacing it will only be possible if the design allows it to. Otherwise, you will have to buy a new vape pen.
Step 5: Clean the threads
There will be threading on the heating chamber and you need to clean that too. Use cotton balls dipped in isopropyl rubbing alcohol for the surface area and Q-tip dipped in isopropyl rubbing alcohol to clean the grooves. Continue wiping with fresh swabs over the threads until there is no residue left.
Step 6: Clean the mouthpiece
Check your user’s manual for recommendations on what to use when cleaning your mouthpiece. If you no longer have your manual with you, people generally use warm water or rubbing alcohol to clean the inner lining and rim of the mouthpiece. Use a Q-tip through the mouthpiece to make sure that it is cleaned properly.
Step 7: Clean the battery
Use a clean cloth or Q-tip to wipe away particles, residue, or dust from the battery of your vape pen. Check your user’s manual first before using rubbing alcohol to clean it.
Step 8: Dry the pieces completely
Wipe the outside of each piece of the vape pen with a cleaning cloth and let the pieces dry completely in a well-ventilated room. Make sure that you are drying them in an area that is far from direct sunlight. Once the parts are totally dry, you can now reassemble your vape pen and use it again.
